Pentax K-3 III DSLR Camera Body, Boxed

Ricoh’s 2021 Pentax K-3 Mark III is a high-end APS-C DSLR and it might just be one of the last of the greats. It's built around a 26MP BSI-CMOS sensor and was redesigned from the ground up to be, on paper, the most capable, most usable K-mount camera ever made.

At the heart of the K-3 III is a new BSI CMOS APS-C sensor that performs brilliantly in low light conditions with relatively little noise, all the way up to an insane 1,600,000 ISO?! Yes, you read that correctly, no, it isn’t a typo. 1,600,000. Yeah.

The build quality is truly something to behold, from the K Series signature grip that feels incredible in the hand, to Pentax’s stupidly crisp, bell-like mirror and shutter release. Even the lens mount screams precision engineering, to the extent that simply mounting a body cap on the thing is a joy in and of itself. One of the most significant revisions in the K-3 III is an all-new viewfinder. Building on a Pentax tradition of large, prism-type viewfinders, the K-3 III's viewfinder is a pentaprism offering an impressive 1.05x magnification. It’s big, it’s bright and incredibly easy to customise and parse at a glance.

It's clear that Ricoh’s engineers have looked at every detail of the K-3 II and asked “What could be done to make this better?” It feels less like a camera designed to be everything to all people and more an exercise in writing one final, great love letter to the DSLR. Having spent some time this week shooting the thing, we'll admit to becoming somewhat attached to it and we're hard pressed to say they didn’t succeeded on all fronts…
