The imagex Story

Way back in 2013, imagex was born after the demise of the original, mighty Jessops*, taking over their fairly small - but top-performing - branch in Sheep Street, Bicester, with a long history as a camera store since the 1980s, previously known as 'That Camera Place'. The first imagex branch opened on 1st March 2013, moving to our current, much larger store alongside Sainsbury's on Bure Place in Pioneer Square in the centre of Bicester in September 2019. This new premises allowed imagex to become Oxfordshire's largest full-service photographic retailer. We specialise in all aspects of photographic printing services & reproduction. This includes digital and canvas printing, scanning and film processing, all from our Bicester Town Centre store. We also specialise in photo image repair and restoration services for older photographs.

Other Services we provide include: - Guaranteed government ID, passport & visa photos for all countries - Cine film & video transfer to digital media (DVD, USB or digital download) - Camera & photo equipment repairs - Tripods, bags & cases - Photographic accessories (including batteries, memory cards & film) - Personalised photo gifts - Self-service Kodak Photo Kiosks

In 2020, imagex won the Cherwell Business Awards Retail Business Award accolade. In April 2021, we opened our second floor, custom-built photographic & video studio and event space, with around 1000sq.ft of versatile working area used for photo shoots, video recordings, business presentations, training courses and our much-loved Santa’s Photo Grotto & Christmas-themed photo studio every December .... During the Pandemic of 2020-21, imagex survived and thrived by moving sales significantly online, while remaining open for local customers by offering a range of 'essential services' like document copying & printing and ID / Passport / Visa photography In February 2022, we hosted our first Vintage Camera Fair in our first-floor studio, which is now held every three months. During 2022, imagex were once again finalists in the Cherwell Business Awards for the Small Business of the Year title. And on 1st March 2023, imagex celebrated our 10th birthday !
