Sydney
Town Accomodation Things To Do

Sydney was pretty big (has about the same population as London). The best parts of Sydney are what would spring to mind when you think of Sydney - The Harbour, The Opera House etc. But probably the nicest area was Darling Harbour which has loads of good bars and is fully lit up at night.

There is also alot to do in Sydney (see the tings to do section). We were in Sydney for the 2 Rugby World Cup semi finals - the first Australia vs New Zealand we watched on a huge screen on the Opera House steps which was pretty amazing and the 2nd England vs France we watched in a bar in Olympic park just a stones throw from the Telstra Stadium so we got all the atmosphere from the thousands of fans aswell.

Bondi Beach was a bit of a let down. It was definately not as good as it looks on TV or in postcards and was crammed full of people. It was placed as one of the top ten beaches in the world - we have found more than 10 better just on this trip!

Things To Do

Olympic Park

Very modern, well built place. Well worth going and having a look around. Just outside the Telstra Stadium you could watch TV screens with all of the replays from the past Olympics.

We also had a look at the tennis stadium and I sneaked in through the players entrance and onto the court! (see below)

Sydney Aquarium

A big aquarium with loads to see, hands on displays. Good seals area which you could view from abover and underwater. Also a good sharks a rays underwater viewing area.

The best part was the coral reef tanks with loads of fish and sharks etc.

Taronga Zoo

Not the best Zoo we have been to, some displays were quite good e.g. these houses you could go into to find out information about australian animals etc. The zoo seemed a little run down though and if you are travelling up the coast we would recommend missing this one and going to the Australian Zoo.

Chinese Gardens

Nice place to relax, but being in the city you could still see sky scrapers and hear the traffic whilst in the garden.

Worth going in and having a look for only $2.
