Port Headland
Town Accomodation Things To Do

Port Headland is basically a big industrial town. Everything in the town revolves around mining iron ore. The trains that leave the town can be 3km long full of iron - you cannot see the front or rear of the train as far as your eye can see which is quite bizarre.

Nothing much to do in the town and wouldn't recommend staying here for more that1 or 2 nights.

Christian and I swam down the estuary behind our campsite into the sea only to find out afterwards that there is a small risk of crocodilles in the area, but that there are alot of stonefish in the river which if stepped on they shoot a ery poisonous spike into your foot.

We could not swim in the sea here due to the crocodille risk, lots of sharks and the box jelly fish (most poisonous creature in the world)!

Comments We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, but as the reception was closed we pitched our tent up anyway. We were going to pay, but then when we were in the swimming pool with a beer, the manager started shouting at us that we weren't allowed beer in there - we were the only 2 people there and we only had 1 beer each, so we decided that we could leave early in the morning and not pay.

In the morning though the manager had got up early and as we alked outhe caught us. I acted as though I didn't undertand him and Christian (German) did sort of the same and we said that we had camped on the beach behind the campsite. The bloke then asked which way we were travelling the coast so he could tell all other campsites to not let us in, so of course we said we were heading South and then went on our way up North.
