We went on a 3 day / 2 night self 4 wheel drive trip - Fraser Island is made up of sand tracks.

There were 7 of us in a Land Cruiser with all our camping gear etc. Luckily we got a really good group of people :- Des & Kieran (Irish), Marjoline (Dutch), David & Hayley (USA).

We were well stocked up on food and even more on beer, and even though the weather wasn't great, the trip was excellent.

Fraser Island is a beautiful place and even though everyone seems to do a trip out there, it isn't as crowded as you would thing apart from some of the major areas such as Lake McKenzie. You can't swim in the sea as it is a breeding ground for tiger sharks!

Definately one of the highlights of coming to Australia. Must be done.

We camped for the 2 nights. Would definately recommend camping over staying in one of the resorts so you get a better experience of the island.
