Things To Do

Our first stop in New Zealand, Flockhill is situated up in the mountains about an hour and a half from Christchurch. You can drive for about 40 mins without passing another house.
A very peaceful place surrounded by mountains and close to 4 ski fields - Ashleigh thought it was a bit too quiet and isolated though. Even the closest petrol station was half an hour away!

Great location for snowboarding and very friendly people (Garry & Heather) - who lent me their daughters snowboarding trousers.
We also hired their daughters snowboard for a very good price and on the last day Ashleigh left it on a heater by the room and melted the back (see below), so she had to by a new one for her!

Snowboarding
|
Snowboarding in the ski fields up in Arthurs Pass is very un-commercialized. Porter Heights was the best place, we also went to Mt Cheesman. There are no chair lifts on the ski fields up here the lift is a T-Bar which fits under your leg and is pretty hard to get the hang of on a snowbaord and caines your leg badly after a few hours!
The boarding was wicked though and we had a couple of days with fresh powder snow and hardly anyone on the mountain - sweet as!
